Jakarta MRT Introduces Contactless Credit Card Payment System
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and PT MRT Jakarta have introduced a contactless credit card payment system using EMV Contactless technology to facilitate easier transactions for passengers. Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung officially launched the system at Bundaran HI Station on Wednesday. “Today, I officially launch the credit card contactless ticket payment system for MRT Jakarta services. Hopefully, this step will further strengthen modern, inclusive public transport services and support Jakarta in becoming a resilient global city,” he said. The credit cards, bearing Visa and Mastercard logos, are the first of their kind in Indonesia. Their introduction is expected to serve as a pilot for the development of other payment systems. This move is intended to support Jakarta’s vision and mission of becoming a world-class global city with integrated and inclusive public transport. “So that as a global city, Jakarta must now be on par with cities that have already implemented this, including Singapore, Tokyo, Shanghai, New York, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Sydney, and others,” Pramono stated. PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) now offers a variety of payment methods. One option is a keychain device for digital ticket payments, integrated with a lifestyle ecosystem called allride in collaboration with Tahilalats. Additionally, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) has introduced a ticket payment service using the GoPay e-wallet within the MyMRTJ application.
