JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT MRT Jakarta has confirmed that all station operations have returned to normal after experiencing a disruption due to a power supply issue on Thursday (9/4/2026) at 17:57 WIB. The disruption impacted several station facilities, including lighting and elevators, and temporarily trapped passengers inside a lift at Lebak Bulus MRT Station. “This operational disruption was caused by a power supply issue from PLN (CSW), resulting in some station facilities, such as lighting, elevators, escalators, and other amenities, experiencing outages,” stated Rendy Primartantyo, Head of the Corporate Secretary Division of PT MRT Jakarta, in a written statement on Thursday. “MRT Jakarta has taken swift handling and normalisation measures and continues to coordinate with relevant parties to ensure services return to normal,” Rendy explained. Rendy added that on-site personnel are continuously monitoring conditions and ensuring services run smoothly. Further updates will be provided periodically. However, Rendy did not detail the condition of the passengers who were trapped in the lift. “We apologise for the inconvenience; the safety of MRT Jakarta customers remains our top priority,” he stated. Earlier, a lift at Lebak Bulus Integrated Multi-Modal Station (MRT) in South Jakarta was suspected to have malfunctioned on Thursday afternoon. A video received by Kompas.com showed several people trapped inside the lift. Two security officers were seen holding the door slightly open to allow some air circulation.
