Jakarta Military Regional Command Urged to Secure Embassies Following US Attack on Iran
General Agus Subiyanto, the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) commander, instructed Kodam Jaya/Jayakarta to deploy personnel to patrol security at strategically vital objects and foreign embassies in Jakarta. The order is contained in Telegram Number TR/283/2026, regarding the designation of Alert Status I for all defence units in Indonesia.
“The Jakarta Military Regional Command should carry out patrols at strategically vital objects and embassies and anticipate developments to maintain conduciveness in the DKI Jakarta region,” reads the fourth point of the telegram.
The telegram’s publication amid escalating Middle East tensions has been confirmed by the TNI’s Head of Strategic Intelligence (Kabais) Lieutenant General Yudi Abdimantyo. The telegram, signed on 1 March 2026, contains seven orders addressed to various units within the military.
According to Yudi, the orders are intended to anticipate domestic security developments following attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran. The strikes prompted Iran to retaliate by attacking several U.S. military bases located in Middle Eastern countries.
As a result, the retaliatory strikes have impacted the security of Indonesian citizens abroad in the region. “The TNI, as the front-line in safeguarding the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), must anticipate every development in the situation, both globally, regionally, and nationally,” Yudi told Tempo on Saturday, 7 March 2026.
Tempo contacted the Commander of the Jayakarta Military Regional Command (Pangdam Jaya), Major General Deddy Suryadi, and the Head of Public Affairs of Kodam Jaya, Colonel Inf. Arief Wicaksana, to confirm the security deployments to embassies and areas in Jakarta as ordered by the Commander. They had not yet responded.
In addition to deploying the Jakarta-based commander, the telegram also instructs the military’s intelligence units to conduct early detection and preventive measures against any groups at vital, strategic objects and embassies, as well as to anticipate developments to maintain conduciveness in the DKI Jakarta region.
