Jakarta Metropolitan Police Prepare Routine Patrols to Prevent Street Brawls at Multiple Locations
Several locations across Jakarta have become regular sites for street brawls, including Duren Sawit in East Jakarta. The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) have prepared a number of measures to prevent such incidents.
“Brawl hotspots such as Duren Sawit and several other locations frequently become meeting points for street fights, largely due to habitual factors. To address this, Polda Metro Jaya is focusing preventive and pre-emptive surveillance measures on these locations,” said Jakarta Metropolitan Police Head of Public Relations Commissioner Budi Hermanto to reporters on Thursday (19/2/2026).
He stated that one of the prevention efforts involves routine patrols, which are conducted during hours when brawls are most likely to occur.
“To provide a sense of security for motorists and workers passing through these areas, we are conducting routine patrols, patrols during high-risk hours, deploying personnel at specific locations, and taking preventive steps when gatherings that could potentially lead to brawls are detected,” he said.
He called on the public to help maintain security in their areas. Budi urged residents to report immediately if they observe any potential security disturbances.
“We also urge the public, should they see signs of security disturbances, to report them immediately through the 110 emergency service so that swift action can be taken,” he said.
