Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Narcotics Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) has arrested a suspected marijuana dealer carrying 1.3 kilogrammes of cannabis in the Rawalumbu area of Bekasi, West Java.

“During the operation conducted on Thursday (19 February), officers apprehended a male suspect identified by the initials A.T.S (30),” said Unit 4 Head of Sub-directorate 3, Narcotics Directorate, Chief Commissioner Rumangga, in a statement on Friday.

He explained that the arrest was carried out by Unit 4 of Sub-directorate 3 following community reports of suspected drug abuse and trafficking in the area.

“Based on field investigations, officers identified a man behaving suspiciously at a photocopy shop,” Rumangga said.

After conducting further inquiries, officers detained the man, who identified himself as A.T.S.

“Upon searching the suspect, police discovered a brown cardboard box containing marijuana with a gross weight of 1,337 grammes, or 1.3 kilogrammes,” Rumangga disclosed.

The suspect and the seized evidence have been transferred to the Narcotics Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police for further investigation.

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating drug trafficking within the jurisdiction of Jakarta and its surrounding areas.

“We urge the public not to hesitate in reporting any suspicious drug-related activities,” Rumangga stressed.
