Jakarta may lose some assets

JAKARTA: A number of Jakarta provincial administration assets leased to the private sector may be lost due to missing documents.

"These assets are not listed either with the city assets office or the city economic development offices," Dani Anwar, the secretary of the City Council's commission B dealing with economic affairs , said on Sunday as quoted by Antara.

Dani Anwar, who was speaking to reporters after attending a ceremony to launch the new name of his party, the Welfare Justice Party, which used to be Justice Party, said that he had received a report from the city assets office.

The 2002 city budget states that assets being rented include Batu Tulis Putih, Pradipta Shop buildings, Tastra Jaya, Aloca Complex, Kabana land, Undagi Klender, Sarana Jaya. Assets being handled in cooperation with others include PT Langgeng Ayom Lestari, Sapta Nawawi Bhakti Foundation, PT Duta Pertiwi, PT Bakri Investindo, PT Jaya Real Property, PT Rointa Ekajaya, PT Dharma Alumas Sakti, PT Kempas Indah Indonesia.

Not only are the documents missing, but the assets in question failed to reach the income targets set in 2002. Out of the rental target of Rp 720 million (US$80,000), only some Rp 382.5 million was realized. The target of income from assets under cooperations is Rp 1.177 trillion, but only realized Rp 1.15 trillion.

The economic affairs commission will investigate the case and report it to the council's plenary meeting on Monday.

"The city administration will not be able to recover these assets without the proper documents," said Dani.-- JP
