Jakarta — PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), a municipal corporation, is targeting the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B project, which connects Velodrome to Manggarai Station, to commence operations this year.

Jakpro’s Chief Executive Director, Iwan Takwin, stated that various operational preparations are currently underway, including system testing phases before the service opens to the public.

“For LRT Jakarta 1B, we are targeting a launch in August, God willing, as per the established timeline,” Iwan said in an official statement on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Iwan explained that in the coming weeks, his team will begin the commissioning test phase as part of the final testing process before the line becomes operational. According to him, this testing aims to ensure that all LRT systems and infrastructure function properly and safely when serving passengers.

“After that, we will commence commissioning tests and, in parallel, also complete the operational licensing process that will be submitted to the Transport Ministry,” he said.

Beyond this, Jakpro is also preparing plans for the future expansion of the Jakarta LRT network through the development of a master plan. The study is being conducted to enhance public transportation services in the capital, whilst ensuring the LRT network is integrated with various other modes of transport.

According to Iwan, the network expansion will be formulated based on public mobility needs and the potential for intermodal integration to optimise transport connectivity in Jakarta.

For context, the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B project is an extension of the route from Jakarta International Velodrome to Manggarai Station, spanning approximately 6.4 kilometres. Five new stations will be built on this line: Rawamangun, Pramuka BPKP, Pasar Pramuka, Matraman, and Manggarai.

In the Manggarai area, the line will subsequently be integrated with various other transport modes, including KRL Commuter Line services in the greater Jakarta area and Transjakarta bus services.

The Phase 1B development is a continuation of Jakarta LRT operations on the Pegangsaan Dua–Velodrome line, which has been operational since 2019.
