On the occasion of National Transportation Day on 24 April, PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing safe, comfortable, and sustainable public transportation development. This commitment is embodied in the construction of the Jakarta Light Rail Transit (LRT) Phase 1B project along the Velodrome–Manggarai route. Owned by PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), the project has now reached 91.86 per cent progress. Waskita Karya is currently accelerating the completion of the project. The elevated LRT track crossing over Ir. Wiyoto Wiyono Toll Road has been fully connected at 100 per cent. The remaining work includes the installation of steel box girders (SBG) at the Matraman intersection. Waskita Karya Corporate Secretary Ermy Puspa Yunita stated that the installation of the girder span is a crucial stage in the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B project. “Waskita Karya is grateful that the entire construction process has proceeded smoothly as planned. This success demonstrates the strong synergy between the company, PT Jakarta Propertindo, the regional government, and stakeholders,” she said in a written statement received by Kompas.com on Friday (24/4/2026). The technologies employed include incremental lifting steel box girders, lifting sliding PC girders, and traveller launcher cast-in-situ balanced cantilever methods. These techniques facilitate work in areas with heavy traffic, including active highways and toll roads in Jakarta. Thanks to these innovations, the installation of the elevated track over the toll road can be carried out without disrupting traffic flow. “This proves that Waskita has prioritised aspects of safety and occupational health,” Ermy explained. She added that the Jakarta LRT elevated track from Kelapa Gading to Jalan Pramuka has been connected and forms part of the elevated rail network linking North, East, and Central Jakarta. Additionally, several main structures in the Jalan Pemuda, Jalan Pramuka, Jalan Tambak, and Jalan Sultan Agung corridors have also been connected. Waskita Karya is optimistic that the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B project can be completed on time. The Rp 4.1 trillion project is expected to reduce congestion and lower carbon emissions in urban areas. “This project is highly anticipated by the public as it can improve air quality and support more efficient mobility,” Ermy stated.
