Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading-Manggarai Officially Operational; Fare Details Revealed
The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) officially inaugurated the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B (Velodrome-Manggarai) on Wednesday (16/08/2026). The rail-based public transport line, which connects Kelapa Gading with Manggarai, was inaugurated directly by President Prabowo Subianto.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the Jakarta LRT serves a 12.2-kilometre route spanning 11 stations. According to him, the investment value expended by the Jakarta Provincial Government to construct the LRT Jakarta from Kelapa Gasting to Manggarai is approximately Rp 12.1 trillion.
“Today, 16 September 2026, we begin a new milestone for transportation in Jakarta, following the inauguration by President Prabowo Subianto, covering the route from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai, with a length of 12.2 kilometres, an investment of 12.1 trillion, and 11 stations,” he said at Manggarai LRT Station on Wednesday.
The Jakarta LRT is expected to have a headway of approximately 13 minutes. The travel time from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai, or vice versa, is estimated to take around 28 minutes.
Pramono noted that a special fare of just Rp 8 will be implemented for eight days following the inauguration. This special rate is intended to allow the wider public to experience the Jakarta LRT now that it is connected to Manggarai.
“As we know, following my time with the President and under his direction, we will provide free access for 8 days starting today, with a charge of only Rp 8 during this eight-day period. We hope this serves as part of the socialisation process,” he said.
Following the promotional period, the Jakarta Provincial Government will revert to the normal fare of Rp 5,000 per trip. Moving forward, the provincial government will conduct discussions to adjust the Jakarta LRT fares if necessary.
“Later, in October, we will decide on the fares, whether for the route from Kelapa Gading to Velodrome or Velodrome to Manggarai, and whether there will be changes or a flat rate; we will finalise that soon,” Pramono added.
He further noted that the Jakarta Provincial Government also plans to extend the Jakarta LRT line from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas. Construction of the 2-kilometre stretch is planned to commence next year.
“The plan is to proceed to Dukuh Atas early next year, which will require approximately Rp 2.7 trillion for the additional 2 kilometres. Once completed, the connectivity for the Jakarta LRT will be fully integrated,” he concluded.
