Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that the Jakarta LRT fare will be set at a flat rate of Rp5,000 following the end of the eight-day trial period, which previously featured a rate of Rp8,000. This policy has been implemented while awaiting a comprehensive evaluation of the new fare structure, which is scheduled to be completed this coming October.

Pramono explained that the Jakarta Provincial Government is still considering whether future fares will remain flat or utilise a scheme based on travel segments. This includes routes from Kelapa Gading to Velodrome as well as the new route towards Manggarai.

“We will decide in October what the fares will be, whether for the route from Kelapa Gading to Velodrome or Velodrome to Manggarai, and whether there will be changes or if it will remain flat; we will finalise that soon,” Pramono said after inaugurating the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route alongside President Prabowo Subianto at Manggarai Station, South Jakarta, on Wednesday.

Beyond the issue of fares, Pramono highlighted the strategic role of Manggarai Station as a primary transportation hub in Jakarta. Based on coordination with the President and the Ministry of Transportation, the Manggarai area is projected to serve as a hub handling between 1.2 million and 1.3 million people daily.

The high volume of passengers necessitates integrated area improvements. Pramono is committed to ensuring that the development around Manggarai is managed to support large-scale public mobility more neatly and efficiently.

“Manggarai is becoming a new hub. We believe that if it is managed well and more organised, this place will soon be well-arranged, and I will coordinate the improvement of the existing developments in Manggarai,” he concluded.

President Prabowo also emphasised the importance of addressing waste management issues to realise a safe, healthy, clean, and beautiful Indonesia. The President noted that differences in political party backgrounds do not prevent him from appreciating regional heads who demonstrate good performance.

As Jakarta approaches its five-hundredth anniversary, the administration aims to strengthen Jakarta’s transformation into a competitive global city. President Prabowo officially inaugurated the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route, with the Jakarta Provincial Government preparing Rp2.7 trillion for the project’s continuation to Dukuh Atas by 2027.
