Jakarta Library Holds Free Braille Literacy Training

The Jakarta Library at Taman Ismail Marzuki is continuing to promote inclusive literacy through training in reading and writing Braille. The programme, which is held free of charge on the 4th of every month, is open to the public as an effort to broaden access to knowledge and increase awareness of the needs of visually impaired individuals. Participants are introduced to the basics of Braille letters as a foundation for understanding the reading and writing system used by people with visual impairments. In addition to learning to read, participants also practise writing using Braille tools to understand the communication process used by blind individuals. Through this training, the DKI Jakarta Library and Archives Service hopes that more people will care about inclusive literacy and support the creation of a learning space that is friendly for all.
