Jakarta Launches One-Stop Service to Streamline Film Production Ecosystem
The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta has launched the Jakarta Film Commission (JFC). This initiative serves as an integrated one-stop film service to strengthen the film industry ecosystem and realise Jakarta’s commitment to becoming an international-standard Cinema City. The service is operated through the Filming in Jakarta programme by the Jakarta Experience Board (JXB) under PT Jakarta Tourisindo. As a catalyst for the film industry, JFC will support the ease of the entire film production process in Jakarta, such as shooting cost efficiency and connecting local and global producers with a vendor ecosystem in Jakarta that meets international standards and certifications. Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Rano Karno, stated that this official platform will facilitate filmmakers with various production needs, ranging from permits and location access to on-the-ground coordination. ‘Everything is designed to simplify the production process for both local and international teams,’ said the man familiarly known as Bang Rano in a statement on Monday (29/6/2026). The integrated services provided by JFC include comprehensive innovations and facilitation, such as: a 50 percent reduction in the principal tax on certain goods and services (PBJT) for arts and entertainment services for national film screenings; cross-agency licensing coordination that provides time certainty and clear standard operating procedures (SOP) to cut bureaucratic red tape for film production; a location access database that provides easy access to a directory of shooting locations in Jakarta, including curated iconic spots and the authentic charm of urban villages; and global standard efficiency, connecting local and international producers with a vendor ecosystem in Jakarta that meets international standards and certifications. President Director of Jakarta Experience Board, Yunn Bali Mohammad Yusuf, expressed pride in taking a key role in managing Filming in Jakarta. He is ready to make JFC the best partner for filmmakers to explore Jakarta’s potential as a world-class story backdrop. ‘Our task is to ensure JFC is not just an information centre, but also a friend and the best partner for filmmakers,’ said Yunn. To build a strong community, JFC is now opening a membership scheme for filmmakers and production houses to gain exclusive benefits. As a follow-up to this launch, JFC is preparing a series of agendas for the coming quarter.
