Jakarta Launches Mobile Veterinary Clinics, Offering Sterilisation Services

The Jakarta Provincial Government launched a Mobile Veterinary Clinic on Friday (10/7/2026), a move expected to broaden public access to animal healthcare services. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that five units of the Mobile Veterinary Clinic have been prepared, with each vehicle set to operate in every administrative city to serve the healthcare needs of Jakarta residents’ pets. “Jakarta, as a rabies-free city, must of course be continuously supported, maintained, and cared for. Therefore, I believe the existence of this Mobile Veterinary Clinic serves as excellent social capital for Jakarta to maintain its status as a rabies-free city while supporting Jakarta as a global city, an economic centre, and the nation’s capital,” Pramono said. Pramono explained that each Mobile Veterinary Clinic is equipped with a veterinarian and medical equipment to provide various animal health services. These services include health check-ups, examinations and treatment for cats, dogs, goats, and cattle, minor surgical procedures and sterilisation, as well as ultrasonography (USG) examinations. Pramono added that in 2026, the Jakarta Provincial Government is targeting the sterilisation of 23,000 animals. He therefore urged the public to utilise the service as part of the effort to make Jakarta an animal-friendly city. “I invite all citizens to make the best use of this service. This is a new breakthrough, perhaps the first of its kind in Indonesia, starting from Jakarta, because we want Jakarta to be a city that is friendly to animals, whatever the species,” he said.
