Jakarta Launches Colossal Bedug Evening for Takbir Night, Traffic Management Announced for Sudirman-Thamrin

JAKARTA — The Jakarta Provincial Government will implement traffic management during the Car Free Night Takbir Evening as part of the Jakarta Colossal Bedug celebration for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri on Friday, 20 March 2026.

Acting Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Ujang Harmawan, explained that this cultural and religious event to mark Eid al-Fitr will run from 20:00 WIB until completion.

“The Jakarta Colossal Bedug event involves a Takbir Torch Procession that will pass through the south-western gate of Monas, Bank Indonesia roundabout, Jalan MH Thamrin, and Hotel Indonesia roundabout as the finish point,” Ujang stated in an official statement on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.

Alternative routes for motorists have been provided. Traffic flow management will be situational in nature, particularly during the torch procession and decorated vehicle parade.

Transjakarta bus operations along affected routes will experience temporary route modifications and operational pattern changes.

Members of the public attending the event are advised to use public transport such as Transjakarta buses, MRT, LRT, and Commuter Line to minimise congestion on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin.

“The Jakarta Transportation Agency urges the public to avoid affected road sections and follow traffic management instructions. Comply with road signs and directions from field officers and prioritise road safety,” Ujang said.
