Jakarta Land Office and NU Branch Collaborate to Accelerate Waqf Land Certification
The Jakarta Regional Office of the National Land Agency (Kanwil BPN) and the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Jakarta branch signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the acceleration of waqf land certification.
This collaboration aims to provide legal certainty over waqf assets while supporting their optimal utilisation for the benefit of the community. This was stated by the Head of the Jakarta Regional Office (Kakanwil) of BPN, Erry Juliani Pasoreh, at the NU Jakarta branch office in Matraman, East Jakarta, today.
“Through this memorandum of understanding, we hope to synergise in a more structured, coordinated, and sustainable manner in accelerating waqf land certification. I also request the Heads of Land Offices across Jakarta to immediately follow up on this agreement with concrete steps in their respective areas,” said Erry Juliani Pasoreh in a written statement on Friday (10/04/2026).
Kakanwil Erry also conveyed that waqf land certification is a priority because it holds strategic value in supporting community social, educational, and religious activities.
The NU Jakarta branch welcomed the collaboration. NU Jakarta Chairman Samsul Ma’arif assessed that accelerating waqf land certification is crucial to protect community assets from potential disputes and ensure their optimal use for society.
“I appreciate the government’s attention, in this case BPN, which continuously supports us in accelerating the certification of NU’s waqf land. Hopefully, this MoU will bring benefits for the community’s interests,” said Samsul.
The scope of the Memorandum of Understanding includes the registration of land, both initial and data maintenance, for waqf land, assets of legal entities, as well as land owned by the management and members of the NU Jakarta branch.
In addition, the collaboration also covers the implementation of socialisation and education regarding preparations for land registration, provision of assistance in preventing and handling land issues, and the development of other forms of cooperation agreed upon by both parties.
“With this Memorandum of Understanding, the Jakarta Regional Office of BPN and the NU Jakarta branch hope that the legalisation process for waqf land in the Jakarta area will increase further. Legal certainty over waqf land is expected to strengthen its social function and provide broader benefits for society,” concluded Erry.
