JAKARTA (JP): The bullish condition continued on the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) yesterday as more investors entered the trading floor.
The broad-based Composite Index rose for the third consecutive day to close 5.3 points higher at 472.65 yesterday against 467.28 on the previous day.
The narrower-based GTDBS-50 Index also strengthened to close at 111.96 from 110.64.
Securities brokers said the buying mood was very encouraging as it meant most investors had gained confidence.
"The trading is more sporadic, indicating that investors' confidence is no longer limited to certain shares," a securities dealer said.
Top gainers included Argha Karya (+Rp 400), Bank Internasional Indonesia (+Rp 425), Hadtex (+Rp 225), Hero Supermarket (+Rp 300), H.M. Sampoerna (+Rp 800), Inti Indorayon (+Rp 475), Kalbe Farma (+Rp 350), Mayora (+Rp 500), Polysindo (+Rp 300), Schering Plough (+Rp 1,000), Unggul Indah (+Rp 300) and Bakrie Sumatra Plantation (+Rp 200).
Top losers were Andayani Megah (-Rp 1.000), Aqua (-Rp 275), Indorama (-Rp 2,725), Modernland (-Rp 500) and Smart Corporation (+Rp 400).
Trading volume dropped to 21.71 million shares worth Rp 102.12 billion (US$48.62 million) yesterday from 29.97 million shares worth Rp 129 billion ($61.4 million) on Thursday. (hen)
