Jakarta Information Commission Trains Interns via Moot Court on Public Information Disputes

The Jakarta Information Commission (KI DKI Jakarta) has equipped interns from the Persis Islamic College (STAI Persis Jakarta) with a moot court exercise on resolving public information disputes.

“In the moot court, students were given the opportunity to act as the Commission Panel and lead the proceedings, in accordance with the procedures applicable at the Information Commission,” said KI DKI Jakarta Chairman Harry Ara Hutabarat in Jakarta on Friday.

He said the moot court is an effective learning method to help students understand legal processes in a practical way.

According to Harry, the activity not only bridges the theory acquired in lectures with courtroom practice at the Information Commission, but also builds legal research skills and sharpens students’ courage in public speaking.

He assessed that through the moot court, students can directly understand the process of resolving public information disputes.

“Starting from court procedures, the role of the panel, to techniques for constructing legal arguments,” said Harry.

In addition, he added that the moot court activity is also expected to train litigation skills, construct legal arguments, and improve students’ rhetoric and communication skills in conveying opinions systematically and convincingly.

Through the activity, he said, students are expected to have a more comprehensive understanding of procedures and the course of proceedings in accordance with applicable legal provisions.

“This understanding can also strengthen their readiness to enter the professional world, particularly in the fields of law and public information services,” said Harry.

On the occasion, the interns also presented their understanding of Law Number 14 of 2008 on Public Information Disclosure (KIP).
