Jakarta Information Commission Targets KIP Bylaw Completion Ahead of City's 500th Anniversary
The Jakarta Information Commission (KI) is targeting the passage of the Draft Regional Regulation on Public Information Disclosure (Raperda KIP) as a ‘public gift’ ahead of the 500th anniversary of Jakarta in 2027. KI DKI Jakarta Chairman Harry Ara Hutabarat stated on Monday that the regulation would be a crucial instrument in strengthening the implementation of information disclosure at the regional level. ‘If 189 Informative Public Bodies are a gift for Jakarta’s 499th anniversary today, then we hope the Raperda KIP will be a public gift towards Jakarta’s 500th anniversary,’ Harry said after attending the DPRD DKI Jakarta Plenary Meeting for the city’s 499th anniversary. He noted that 189 public bodies in Jakarta achieved the ‘Informative’ predicate in the 2025 Public Information Disclosure E-Monitoring and Evaluation. Harry emphasised that a global city’s status is not only measured by infrastructure and technological advancement but also by transparency, public participation, and public trust in governance. ‘The presence of 189 Informative Public Bodies demonstrates the strengthening commitment of public bodies to provide open, fast, and easily accessible information services to the public,’ he said. ‘Towards Jakarta’s 500th anniversary, let us make information disclosure a shared culture. With collaboration, Jakarta will be more ready to become a modern and inclusive global city. Happy 499th Anniversary, Jakarta.’ Meanwhile, DPRD DKI Jakarta Chairman Suhud Alynudin expressed appreciation for the synergy of all elements in Jakarta’s development up to its 499th year.
