Jakarta Information Commission reminds public bodies of obligation to form PPID for information governance
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Information Commission (KI) Luqman Hakim Arifin has reminded public bodies that they are obliged to form an Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID) team to realise good information governance. Luqman explained that the broad scope of public bodies, encompassing executive, legislative, and judicial institutions, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), regionally-owned enterprises (BUMD), political parties, and non-governmental organisations, underpins the necessity of establishing a PPID. In an official statement received in Jakarta on Thursday, Luqman also reminded that public bodies have the right to exempt information as stipulated in Article 6 of the Public Information Disclosure Law. However, if an information request is denied, the applicant has the right to file an objection and request an explanation regarding the basis of the consequence test for the exempted information. “If the dispute continues, resolution can be pursued through the Information Commission by prioritising a mediation process before adjudication,” said Luqman. Additionally, Luqman reminded public bodies of their obligation to respond to information requests no later than ten working days, which may be extended by seven working days in accordance with the provisions. On the occasion, he appreciated the commitment and consistency of the PAM JAYA PPID Team as an informative public body in implementing public information disclosure. Luqman assessed that the success in maintaining the ‘Informative’ predicate is built not only through commitment but also through consistency in implementation and the institution’s credibility in the public eye. According to him, commitment, consistency, and credibility are essential foundations for building public trust in public bodies. He expressed hope that PAM Jaya can continue to maintain this achievement while sustainably improving the quality of information services to the public. Luqman also encouraged PAM Jaya to periodically conduct public service surveys as part of efforts to enhance the quality of information services to the community. Meanwhile, PAM Jaya’s Acting PPID for Information Services and Provision, Irma Damayanti, stated that collaboration with all stakeholders is a crucial factor in strengthening the company’s accountability as a public body. “Collaboration with all stakeholders needs to be continuously strengthened to realise increasingly better information services,” she said.
