Jakarta hotel occupancy rate rises 2.54 percent in May 2026

The Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the occupancy rate for star-rated hotels reached 53.85 percent in May 2026, marking a year-on-year increase of 2.54 percentage points. Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, stated that while there was a monthly decline of 0.95 percentage points, the annual trend showed a positive increase of 2.54 percentage points.

For non-star hotels, the occupancy rate also experienced an annual increase of 0.70 percentage points in May 2026, alongside a monthly rise of 2.82 percentage points. Kadarmanto noted that the occupancy rate for non-star hotels reached 40.91 percent.

The average length of stay for guests in star-rated hotels during May 2026 was approximately 1.62 nights, an increase of 0.02 points month-on-month and 0.04 points year-on-year. A similar figure was recorded for non-star hotels, with an average stay of 1.32 nights, though this represented a slight decrease of 0.01 points both monthly and annually.

Regarding guest composition, star-rated hotels were dominated by Indonesian guests, who accounted for 88.58 percent of the total, while foreign guests made up 11.42 percent. Based on hotel class preference, the majority of Indonesian guests opted for three-star hotels, with a proportion of 34.90 percent. In contrast, foreign guests showed a preference for four-star hotels, with a proportion of 44.92 percent.
