The Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office has named a former Acting Director of Irrigation and Swamps at the Directorate General of Water Resources, Ministry of Public Works, YRW, and other officials as suspects in a corruption case involving several projects from the 2023-2025 fiscal year. “The suspects have been detained starting today, Wednesday, 24 June 2026, for the next twenty days, with all three held at the Salemba Detention Centre in Central Jakarta,” said the Head of Legal Information at the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office, Dapot Dariarma, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. Suspect YRW is the former Acting Director of Irrigation and Swamps at the Directorate General of Water Resources from July 2025 to January 2026, acting together with DP, who has been detained since 21 May 2026. “They committed extortion and/or accepted bribes and/or gratuities in the form of cash amounting to more than Rp2 billion from several state-owned construction enterprises and private parties related to several projects at the Directorate General of Water Resources,” he said. Meanwhile, RW and JSR, together with other suspects, orchestrated fictitious projects at the Secretariat General of Human Settlements for the 2023 and 2024 periods, resulting in state losses of at least more than Rp16 billion. During the investigation, investigators have also seized two luxury cars and a sum of cash in US dollars, collected evidence, and deepened inquiries into the involvement of other parties from the Ministry of Public Works, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector. To date, investigators continue to develop the case by examining witnesses, state finance experts, and suspects, as well as tracing and seizing assets to increase the recovery of state financial losses. For their actions, YRW is charged under Article 12 letter e or Article 12 letter a or Article 12 letter b or Article 12B paragraphs (1) and (2) of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Corruption, or Article 606 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 20 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. Meanwhile, RW and JSR are charged under Article 603 or Article 604 in conjunction with Article 20 letter c and Article 126 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 18 paragraph (1) of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 on the Eradication of Corruption.
