Jakarta Governor Urges Mudik Residents to Report to RT/RW
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has asked residents who will undertake mudik during Idul Fitri 1447 H/2026 M to report to the local heads of their rukun tetangga (RT) and rukun warga (RW). The measure is considered important to ensure that their homes left vacant remain safe. Pramono said the reporting would ease the work of neighbourhood officials who monitor the area, especially since many Jakarta residents go home to their hometowns during Lebaran. ‘We ask mudik-goers to report to the local RT/RW before they depart,’ Governor Pramono said in the Taman Ismail Marzuki area, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (7 March 2026). He noted that homes left vacant are often targets of crime, and urged residents to proactively report to local leaders before leaving for mudik. ‘Do not leave a house without reporting, only for theft to occur, and then the government at the RT/RW or kelurahan level would be blamed,’ Pramono said. He added that the services provided by the Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) will continue normally during Lebaran. Although some civil servants (ASN) are allowed to work flexibly under a flexible working arrangement (FWA), public services will remain in operation. ‘Public services will continue as usual. Even though from next week there will be work from everywhere, we have prepared Jakarta’s public services so that there will be no changes whatsoever,’ Pramono said. In addition, the Pemprov Jakarta has coordinated with the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to secure the Takbiran night. Pramono is confident Eid celebrations in Jakarta will proceed safely.
