Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has requested that the Transportation Agency coordinate with the Ministry of Transportation to devise a short-term solution following the incident where the Tendean Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) was struck by a truck. Pramono wants the location of the Tendean JPO to be turned into a crossing or zebra cross as a short-term solution. “For the Tendean JPO, there will be short-term and long-term solutions. For the short term, I have asked the Transportation Agency to coordinate with the Ministry of Transportation to request permission on whether it can be used as a zebra cross for now,” Pramono said at City Hall on Thursday. Pramono assessed that a short-term solution is necessary because rebuilding the Tendean JPO will take considerable time. Therefore, a temporary measure is needed to facilitate pedestrians in the area. Nevertheless, Pramono stressed that the Jakarta Provincial Government is still preparing a long-term solution, namely rebuilding the footbridge. He stated that next week, his administration will discuss the budget scheme to be used for the reconstruction of the Tendean JPO. “Whether through the regional budget, creative financing, CSR, or naming rights. We are currently working on it, and next week we will hold a meeting to decide immediately. Because this cannot be delayed; it is a very, very strategic pedestrian bridge,” Pramono explained.
