Jakarta Governor Pramono Reviews Anies-Era Bicycle Lanes for Potential Removal
The Jakarta Provincial Government is considering removing bicycle lanes on a number of main roads that were initiated during the Anies Baswedan era. This follows input from several netizens on social media.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung admitted that he has received a lot of feedback regarding the existence of bicycle lanes on main roads. One of the suggestions he received was to remove bicycle lanes from Jakarta’s streets.
“Regarding bicycle facilities, because I happen to be a cyclist myself, as you all know, I have also received a lot of input about that,” he said at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (11/8/2026).
According to him, his administration will soon hold a special discussion on the existence of the bicycle lanes. It is not impossible that the bicycle lanes that have been built will have their designated use changed.
“In the near future, the Jakarta Provincial Government will hold a special discussion on the bicycle facilities it has, whether they still need to be maintained or changed. We will decide in a meeting,” he said.
