Jakarta Governor Pramono Instructs Immediate Repair of Sinking Road in Pulogadung
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has instructed the Water Resources Agency (SDA) and the Bina Marga road agency to immediately complete the repair of a collapsed road in Pulogadung, East Jakarta. The governor stated that the road, which had previously been a project site for the SDA, must be fixed urgently.
βThe one in Pulogadung, I have ordered that it be done immediately. The SDA worked on it before, and then it subsided. The gabion installation has been requested to be carried out right away,β Pramono said after inaugurating the Grab Indonesia Shelter in Thamrin, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday.
He emphasised the need for the SDA to finish the repairs in collaboration with the Bina Marga agency to ensure an integrated handling of the problem. The road subsidence is suspected to have been caused by the previous presence of a large excavator used for dredging the river. The heavy equipment reportedly operated in the area before Ramadan, around February or March 2026, and the road began to crack before eventually collapsing after the excavator ceased operations.
Pramono stressed that partial repairs at a single point would not address the root cause of the issue, given that the soil structure across Jakarta is generally unstable and prone to subsidence.
