Jakarta Governor Pramono Coordinates with Security Forces Following Deadly Clash in Menteng

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has confirmed that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has coordinated with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) following a deadly clash between residents in the Menteng area of Central Jakarta. The measure was taken to ensure the situation remains safe and conducive.

“We have coordinated between the TNI, Polri, and the DKI Jakarta Government to keep this conducive. Because the tagline ‘Jaga Jakarta’ is something we use together, and I am confident that hopefully the situation on the ground is now beginning to calm down, and is no longer inflamed by matters arising from disinformation,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Monday (27/7/2026).

Pramono stated that the DKI Provincial Government has also instructed its ranks to coordinate with law enforcement officers as well as community, religious, and youth leaders to prevent the conflict from spreading.

“I have taken action and instructed the ranks of the DKI Jakarta Government to coordinate with law enforcement officers, community leaders, religious leaders, and youth leaders to maintain a conducive and peaceful situation,” he said.

According to Pramono, the handling of the clash case is fully entrusted to law enforcement officers. He expressed hope that the investigation and inquiry processes would be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the prevailing laws and regulations.

“The Jakarta Government places its highest hopes in law enforcement officers to resolve this matter properly, conducting the investigation and inquiry in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations,” he stated.

Pramono also appealed to the public not to be easily provoked or to spread unverified information. He urged residents to help maintain security and refrain from actions that could aggravate the situation.

“As the Governor of Jakarta, I appeal to all members of the public to keep a cool head, not to engage in provocative actions that could potentially widen the conflict, not to spread information or disinformation that is not based on facts, and not to damage public facilities,” he said.

Pramono once again called on all residents to maintain the conduciveness of the capital through the spirit of ‘Jaga Jakarta’.

“Once again I call on everyone, as I have repeatedly said, we need to look after Jakarta together, so ‘Jaga Jakarta’ becomes important in conditions like this,” he concluded.
