Jakarta Governor Pramono Apologises for Unawareness of Collapsed School
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has apologised for only recently learning that SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 Pagi in South Jakarta has been collapsed for two years, since 2024. “Yesterday when asked by media colleagues about the collapsed state primary school in Kebayoran Lama, frankly, that was the first time I heard about it. I am a person who answers honestly. I apologise for not knowing at that time,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday. After hearing about the matter, Pramono admitted he immediately discussed the issue in a meeting with his staff. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government promptly conducted a visit to see the actual current condition of the school. Pramono also requested that the school be built immediately for the comfort of teaching and learning activities there. “If there is indeed no budget from the APBD yet, then open up space whether from KLB or CSR or from anywhere. The important thing is that it must be built immediately,” he said. According to him, such matters, especially in the education sector, are issues that must be resolved immediately. He added that Vice Governor Rano Karno will also gather all ranks of the Jakarta Education Agency to discuss schools in the capital that require assistance. “There is no need to cover things up. I said no. We must be open and transparent. That is the character of the Jakarta Government in solving various existing problems,” Pramono stated. Besides SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 Pagi in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, Pramono mentioned that the Jakarta Government will also pay attention to 22 other schools that also need repairs. “Not only the one that went viral yesterday, but in other places, the 22 that exist, we will resolve immediately,” Pramono said.
