Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has urged the ranks of regional-owned enterprises (BUMDs) to continuously boost their competitiveness so as not to be limited to dominance in the domestic market. He wants entities owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to start boldly expanding to a broader level.

This was conveyed by Pramono at the BUMD Leaders Forum 2026 “Synergy For Resilience” Strengthening the Role of BUMDs as Pillars of the Economy in the Jakarta Global City Ecosystem, held at Candi Bentar Hall, Putri Duyung Ancol, North Jakarta, on Friday (17/4/2026).

“Do not be just local players, home turf experts, but compete externally, for example, Bank Jakarta, Pasar Jaya, Dharma Jaya, and others, and I am confident that this will also bring benefits to Jakarta,” Pramono emphasised in front of the directors and commissioners of the BUMDs.

Amid ambitions to strengthen their role as pillars of the economy in the Jakarta Global City, Pramono also reminded of real external challenges. He highlighted the uncertain global geopolitical situation and the threat of the El Niño phenomenon predicted to strike from April to September.

“Therefore, I ask them to prepare themselves. In this way, hopefully, the consolidation of BUMDs and building a more open, transparent corporate culture, managed professionally,” he added.

Pramono concluded his direction with optimism that professional management will make Jakarta’s BUMDs far more resilient in facing various future economic pressures.

As information, at the event that brought together all the commissioners and directors of the DKI Jakarta Provincial BUMDs, attendees included the Secretary General of the DKI Jakarta Province, Uus Kuswanto, Deputy Coordinator of the Governor’s Special Staff, Yustinus Prastowo, Assistant for Economy and Finance of the Provincial Secretary, Suharini Eliawati, Head of the BUMD Development Agency of the DKI Jakarta Province, as well as several DKI Jakarta Provincial Government officials.

In addition to aligning visions, the forum also raised several strategic issues, from financing synergy through Bank Jakarta and guarantee synergy through Jamkrida Jakarta to the optimisation of BUMD assets. The Head of the BUMD Development Agency explained that the main focus of the forum is directed towards strengthening competitiveness, company health, and financing capacity for Jakarta’s development.

The Head of the BP BUMD of the DKI Jakarta Province explained that this forum is a continuation of the December 2025 meeting. In the BUMD Leaders 2026, it raises three strategic discussion topics.

“The first topic is accelerating investment performance and financial independence through creative financing and financing synergy. For the first quarter of 2026, praise be to God, a credit facility from Bank Jakarta has been signed for 3 BUMDs, namely PT Bank Jakarta, PT Perumda Dharma Jaya, and also Food Station Tjipinang,” stated the Head of the BP BUMD of the DKI Jakarta Province.

The second topic is Optimising Investment Performance and Business Development through Strategic Project Guarantee Synergy, with discussion outcomes including guarantees for BUMD projects by PT Jamkrida Jakarta and optimisation of Bank Jakarta credit guarantees through PT Jamkrida Jakarta.

The third topic is Increasing Productivity of Strategic Assets as Investment Drivers and New Revenue Stream Generators, including property development such as hotels, mixed-use housing, park & ride, as well as infrastructure development like wastewater treatment, food distribution and processing.

As the closing of the event series, a credit agreement signing was held between PAM Jaya and Bank Jakarta. With commitment through the Collaboration Charter, BUMDs are expected to transform into resilient, professional institutions that play an active role as the main drivers of inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Jakarta.
