Jakarta Governor Orders Cleaner Markets, Highlights Rubbish Issue in Kramat Jati
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has instructed Pasar Jaya to make the markets in the capital cleaner and more comfortable for the public.
“I have asked the Director of Pasar Jaya to ensure all these markets truly become cleaner, tidier, and enjoyable for the public,” Pramono said in the Kemayoran area, Central Jakarta, on Monday.
Furthermore, Pramono highlighted that rubbish accumulation in markets, such as at Kramat Jati, should not recur.
To that end, he emphasised that this issue must be resolved quickly, making the market atmosphere cleaner and more comfortable.
“I have asked the Director of Pasar Jaya to immediately resolve the situation at Kramat Jati,” Pramono stated.
Pramono noted that Jakarta currently has a total of 153 markets. In the future, his administration plans to carry out revitalisation efforts so that the public can shop comfortably at these markets.
As part of this, on this day, Pramono officiated the groundbreaking for two markets: Pasar Gardu Asem and Pasar Kramat Jaya.
These markets will be equipped with several facilities, including temporary waste disposal areas.
It is hoped that Jakarta’s markets will serve as exemplars or role models for other regions to follow.
The construction of Pasar Kramat Jaya is targeted to be completed within eight months, or by January 2027.
Meanwhile, Pasar Gardu Asem is expected to be finished in 11 months, or by March 2027.
