Jakarta Governor Opens Possibility of Anti-Bullying Regulation Following Public Request
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has signalled his willingness to develop a gubernatorial regulation (pergub) concerning the handling of bullying. Pramono indicated that he is still examining the proposal.
The suggestion emerged after Pramono received feedback from residents during a visit to the Regional Special Hospital (RSKD) Duren Sawit in East Jakarta. He stated that bullying was among the concerns raised during conversations with patients and their families at the hospital.
“There were several requests earlier, one of which was related to bullying,” Pramono said at RSKD Duren Sawit in East Jakarta on Tuesday (10 March 2026).
He stated that he would instruct officials within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to examine the possibility of formulating specific regulations on the matter.
“I will ask the Assistant for Public Welfare and relevant officials to study whether a gubernatorial regulation relating to bullying is indeed necessary,” he said.
In his view, support from the surrounding community is critically important to enable patients to recover and return to normal life following treatment.
“My hope is that whoever is treated here, once they complete their treatment, becomes better. And most importantly, society must be able to accept them and remove existing stigma,” he said.
