Jakarta Governor Opens Door to Bullying Regulation After Hearing Patient Complaints
Jakarta — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has opened the possibility of issuing a gubernatorial regulation (pergub) concerning the handling of bullying in Jakarta.
The proposal emerged following Pramono’s visit to the Regional Special Hospital (RSKD) Duren Sawit in East Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, where he received various inputs from the community.
Pramono stated that bullying had been raised as one of the issues discussed during his dialogue with patients and their families at the hospital.
“Earlier there were several requests, one of which was related to bullying,” Pramono said on Tuesday.
“I will ask my assistant for public welfare and the relevant departments to study whether a gubernatorial regulation related to bullying is indeed necessary,” he added.
According to Pramono, support from the surrounding environment is crucial for patients undergoing treatment, particularly those receiving mental health care, to enable them to recover and resume their lives more effectively.
“My hope is that whoever is treated here will be better off when their treatment is completed. And most importantly, the community must also be able to accept and eliminate the stigma that exists,” Pramono said.
