Jakarta Governor Inaugurates 368 Functional Officials

Jakarta (ANTARA) — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has inaugurated 368 functional officials in the Jakarta Provincial Government, most of them teachers.

“I am inaugurating 368 functional officials. The largest group is teachers, with 282 people,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday.

He reminded the newly inaugurated officials that public office was a responsibility and a test.

“Before someone is given a position, they have not really been tested. Does their behaviour change? Do they use the authority of their office in accordance with the rules? Do they benefit the wider public?” he said.

Pramono also thanked teachers for making Jakarta Indonesia’s number-one city for education.

“I hope this achievement can be maintained,” he said.

He also highlighted Jakarta’s achievements in civil-service management. The Jakarta Provincial Personnel Agency (BKD) ranked first in the competency accreditation assessment for the state civil service (ASN).

“The ASN assessment is conducted by the National Civil Service Agency (BKN). In the second batch, Jakarta ranked highest. I hope we can maintain this, because achieving it was not easy,” Pramono said.

He expressed hope that, with organisational restructuring proceeding well, Jakarta would continue to be well maintained.
