Jakarta Governor and Deputy Governor to Remain in Jakarta for Eid al-Fitr 2026
JAKARTA — Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung has confirmed that he and Deputy Governor Rano Karno will remain in Jakarta throughout the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. He has affirmed that there are no planned trips abroad during this period.
The statement was made by Pramono in response to a circular from the Interior Ministry numbered 000.2.3/1171/SJ dated 8 March 2026 concerning the postponement of foreign travel for regional leaders during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
“Regarding the Interior Ministry’s circular, the Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta will definitely be in Jakarta to welcome Eid al-Fitr. During this first Eid, we will hold a reconciliation gathering at City Hall,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
“There will be no trips abroad,” he added.
According to Pramono, all civil servants of the Jakarta Provincial Government will remain in Jakarta to carry out official government agendas and ensure that public services continue during the Eid holiday period.
The Interior Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian had previously requested that all regional leaders remain in their respective jurisdictions during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah celebrations. This was outlined in the Interior Ministry’s circular number 000.2.3/1171/SJ concerning the postponement of foreign travel during the Eid holiday.
“When the public is at their peak activity and taking holidays, we should not take holidays. Instead, we must ensure that the public can carry out their Eid celebrations properly,” said Tito during a coordination meeting on inflation control and government readiness for the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah celebrations held in hybrid format from Tanjungpinang on Monday, 9 March 2026.
He further noted that regional governments must also pay attention to environmental security, given that many residential homes are left vacant during the exodus for Eid celebrations.
