The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is targeting the sterilisation of 23,000 animals across Jakarta in 2026.

DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo said the figure represents an increase of 2,000 animals compared with the previous year.

“Last year, in 2025, we ran a sterilisation programme for 21,000 animals. This year, it will be 23,000 animals,” said Pramono during an inspection of the Mobile Animal Clinic at the Mustika Child-Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA) in East Jakarta on Friday.

Nevertheless, he acknowledged that the figure remains insufficient, as the breeding rate of cats in Jakarta is extremely rapid.

For this reason, Pramono has asked for the number of animals sterilised to be increased in the years ahead.

“It is indeed not enough, because cats breed very quickly. So even though we had a sterilisation programme for 21,000 animals last year and now 23,000, they still breed faster than that. Next year, I am asking for the figure to be increased,” said Pramono.

He further invited all residents to make use of the Mobile Animal Clinic services available across Jakarta’s five administrative cities.

According to the tariff board, animal health services at the Animal Health and Livestock Service Centre are based on Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2024 on Regional Taxes and Levies.

For outpatient services, a general animal health examination is charged at Rp35,000. Meanwhile, examinations and treatment for cats cost Rp70,000, while examinations and treatment for dogs are Rp100,000. The same tariff of Rp100,000 also applies to examinations and treatment for goats and cattle.

For procedures carried out in the operating theatre, minor operations are charged at Rp175,000. Sterilisation services, which already include examination, laboratory, and procedure costs, are set at Rp400,000 for cats and Rp700,000 for dogs. In addition, electromedical services such as ultrasound (ultrasonography) are charged at Rp200,000.

As for diagnostic laboratory services, blood tests or haematology examinations are charged at Rp100,000 per sample per type of examination, while blood biochemistry tests cost Rp75,000 per sample per type of examination.

The DKI Provincial Government has prepared five Mobile Animal Clinic units operating across the five administrative cities to make it easier for residents to access animal health services.

Each unit is staffed by veterinary surgeons and veterinary paramedics, ensuring that services remain professional, fast, and in line with animal health standards.
