Jakarta Government Launches 'LapakMain Corner' at RPTRA Tunas Muda to Support Child Development in the Digital Era
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communication and Digital and the private sector, has launched a public space supporting children’s growth and development in the digital era: the ‘LapakMain Corner’ at RPTRA Tunas Muda, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.
“This facility gives children space to continue interacting directly with their surroundings, creating a balance between the digital world and real life,” said Dwi Oktavia, Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Office for Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control (PPAPP), in an official statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The LapakMain Corner provides facilities such as reading books, educational games and digital literacy tools designed to help children build healthy and responsible technology habits.
Dwi believes a play space carries far broader meaning than mere recreation. Such a space is where children learn, develop creativity, build character and strengthen social skills.
The presence of the LapakMain Corner is therefore expected to serve as an example of collaboration that can be replicated at other RPTRA sites across Jakarta.
Dwi also reminded that the challenges children face in the digital space are increasingly varied, ranging from cyberbullying and exposure to age-inappropriate content, to the misuse of personal data and excessive device use.
Public spaces that encourage children to read, play, create and interact face-to-face are therefore an important part of child protection efforts.
She said child protection in the digital era cannot be achieved by government alone, requiring collaboration among all stakeholders to create an environment that is safe while supporting children’s growth and development.
Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, Head of the Human Resources Development Agency at the Ministry of Communication and Digital, said Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP TUNAS) is a key foundation for building a safer digital ecosystem for children, including rules on social media account ownership by age.
Nevertheless, Bonifasius stressed that regulation will not function optimally without the involvement of families, schools, communities and businesses.
“Digital literacy is not merely about teaching how to use technology, but also about building awareness, character and the ability to use technology wisely, safely and responsibly,” he said.
Meanwhile, Natalia Firmansyah, Acting Chief Executive of PT Bukalapak.com Tbk, believes innovation is not only about delivering technology, but also ensuring technology delivers benefits to society.
“Through the LapakMain Corner initiative, we are committed to supporting digital literacy, child protection and community empowerment on a sustainable basis,” she said.
