Jakarta Government Launches Inaugural 'Return to Jakarta' Tourism Campaign for Eid Holiday Period
The Jakarta Provincial Government has for the first time launched the ‘Mudik ke Jakarta’ (Return to Jakarta) programme ahead of Eid celebrations. The programme is aimed at attracting tourists to the capital during the Eid holiday period.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the programme was introduced because Jakarta is expected to be quieter during the exodus season. This situation is viewed as an opportunity to boost the tourism and retail sectors in the capital.
“The main tagline is ‘Jakarta Empty, Holiday and Shopping Fun, Earnings Arrive’,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
The Jakarta Provincial Government has partnered with tourism industry players to prepare various tourism packages during the programme. These packages cover several popular tourist destinations in Jakarta.
Suharini Eliawati, the Deputy for Economy and Finance, explained that the tourism packages include visits to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (Miniature Indonesia Beautiful Park), Taman Impian Jaya Ancol (Ancol Dream Park), and Taman Margasatwa Ragunan (Ragunan Zoo).
According to her, the tourism packages were prepared through cooperation with the travel agency association so that tourists visiting Jakarta could enjoy various destinations more easily.
“We are cooperating with Astindo, for example, and creating bundled tourism packages at TMII, Ragunan and Ancol,” she said.
In addition to tourism packages, the Jakarta Provincial Government has also prepared various promotions during Ramadan through Eid, including discounts at shopping centres reaching up to 80 per cent.
Through the ‘Mudik ke Jakarta’ programme, the provincial government hopes that not only will residents depart Jakarta during the Eid holiday, but also that tourists from other regions will come to holiday and shop in the capital.
