Jakarta Government Ensures Students Can Learn Safely After School Collapse
The Jakarta Provincial Government has assured that students of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 can continue learning properly and safely after the school building collapsed two years ago. Head of the DKI Jakarta Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Agency, Marulina Dewi, stated that during the preparation for reconstruction, the government is ensuring children can still learn in a safe environment. She added that the administration appreciates public attention and input, noting that community concern is an important part of the provincial government’s efforts to evaluate and improve the quality of public services.
The provincial government also confirmed that the rebuilding process for SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 will be closely monitored according to the established stages. Furthermore, the government guarantees that all students will receive safe, high-quality, and continuous education until the construction is completed. Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo previously stressed that his administration would promptly address the issue of the collapsed school in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.
It is known that part of the roof structure of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 collapsed in November 2024. Based on technical recommendations from the local Cipta Karya, Spatial Planning, and Land Agency, the building’s condition was categorised as severely damaged, rendering it unfit for teaching and learning activities. Since 27 November 2024, the building has been vacated to prioritise the safety of students, teachers, and staff, with the school area secured to prevent potential risks. From 28 November 2024, all 270 students were relocated to the adjacent SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 11, where teaching and learning activities are conducted in a two-shift system to ensure all pupils receive optimal educational services.
