Jakarta Government Encourages Management-Union Synergy for 100% Drinking Water Service

The Jakarta Provincial Government is encouraging stronger synergy between management and labour unions within PAM Jaya. This effort is being made to support the target of providing piped drinking water services to all Jakarta residents.

The Head of Industrial Relations and Worker Welfare at the Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency, Purnomo, assessed that good communication between the company and the labour union is an important asset for uniting the vision to improve public services. This is because PAM Jaya has a target to serve 100 percent of Jakarta residents by 2029.

“Good communication will strengthen togetherness in uniting the vision and mission, which is to realise 100 percent drinking water services for Jakarta residents,” he said in a statement on Sunday (19/7/2026).

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Jakarta PDAM Labour Union, Fachmi Islam, stated that the union is committed to maintaining harmonious industrial relations to support the company’s transformation. According to him, a good relationship will have an impact on productivity and a conducive working environment.

“This spirit of togetherness was also realised through the merger of SPAJ into the Jakarta PDAM Labour Union, marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement on 8 July 2026. We believe that the more solid the labour union, the stronger the support for PAM JAYA’s transformation and the target of drinking water services for all Jakarta residents,” said Fachmi.

The Chairman of PUK SPDT FSPMI PAM Jaya, Dwy Wisnu Bagus Priyanto, stated that his party supports the company’s strategic programmes, especially in expanding the coverage of piped drinking water services. Moreover, the company has a target of 100 percent drinking water service coverage for Jakarta residents.

“The company’s progress is also part of the welfare of all workers,” said Wisnu.
