Jakarta Government Deploys 700 Cleaners for HUT Peak Celebration at Bundaran HI
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government deployed 700 cleaning staff during the peak celebration of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary at the Bundaran HI roundabout this evening. The personnel were tasked with clearing rubbish from the surrounding area. “A total of 500 to 700 personnel from other regions were placed on standby to clean up scattered waste after the peak night celebration of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary,” said Head of the Central Jakarta Environmental Sub-agency, Slamet Riyadi, in a statement on Saturday (27/6/2026). The Central Jakarta Environmental Sub-agency also deployed a number of support vehicles to speed up the cleaning process. Eight rubbish trucks and 10 sweeper units were on standby to transport and sweep waste around the event site. “We also deployed six mobile toilet vehicles spread across three points around Bundaran HI,” he said. Slamet explained that cleaning staff would be deployed again for the ‘Jakarta Penuh Warna’ event taking place at Bundaran HI on Sunday (28/6) morning. The number of personnel deployed will be approximately half of the strength used during the peak night celebration. “The personnel and fleet strength deployed is about half to clean the Bundaran HI area after the ‘Jakarta Penuh Warna’ event,” he clarified. “The volume of waste generated during the New Year celebrations was around 500 tonnes, most of which was inorganic. Hopefully, not much waste will need to be transported tomorrow night,” he added. The Jakarta Provincial Government also provided segregated bins for organic and inorganic waste at several points around the celebration site. This measure was taken as part of an educational effort to encourage residents to start sorting their waste at the source. “Providing segregated bins is part of the effort to educate Jakarta residents to start sorting their waste,” he concluded.
