The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta has prepared a budget of Rp100 billion for an educational funding assistance programme through a special Jakarta-specific Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP). “So the LPDP programme value that has been agreed upon and will also be submitted in the APBD is Rp100 billion,” said Pramono at City Hall on Friday. According to Pramono, the Rp100 billion budget will be able to fund 50 to 75 prospective students to study at overseas universities. Pramono had previously explained that the funds for the special Jakarta LPDP programme would be managed by the Jakarta Government. Pramono also stated that his party would collaborate with the central LPDP so that the programme could be realised next year. “The existing funds are certainly managed by the DKI Jakarta Government, but because managing the LPDP apparently takes time, a long time, we are cooperating with the Central LPDP,” Pramono explained. He added that the Jakarta Government would later handle matters related to the campuses and majors that could be chosen. “To determine the students, universities, majors, and so on, the DKI Jakarta Government will decide later,” Pramono stated. Pramono hopes this programme can be realised soon so that its benefits can be felt by the community. He assessed that this programme could be a great opportunity for the children of Jakarta to continue their education abroad. “If this can be realised, I think it is very good to provide an opportunity for the children or students of Jakarta to study abroad using the Jakarta LPDP,” said Pramono.
