Jakarta Government Accelerates Rasuna Said Road Revamp

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is expediting the arrangement of the eastern side of Jalan HR Rasuna Said through intensive coordination with relevant parties to ensure completion meets the June 2026 target. Head of the Road and Bridge Division at the DKI Jakarta Highways Department, Sofiatun, stated during a podcast monitored on Thursday that her team is optimistic about finishing the roadworks and is implementing various accelerations on multiple fronts, with coordination also being carried out intensively. The Highways Department has divided the over 3.8 km project into six segments, increasing the workforce, ensuring equipment is fully functional and complete, and securing sufficient materials. From a traffic perspective, intensive coordination is required with related agencies, including the DKI Jakarta Transportation Department and the police, to minimise disruption to the public through dynamic traffic management. The original target for the road arrangement was September 2026, but it has been brought forward to finish before the 499th anniversary of the city of Jakarta. Sofiatun explained that the project aims to unify the road by addressing existing separators and the distinction between slow and fast lanes, which currently cause long vehicle queues, allowing for freer movement along Jalan Rasuna Said. The pavement area is also being arranged to provide comfort for all pedestrians. Additionally, geometric road adjustments are being made to improve traffic flow, bus stops are being constructed to support integrated public transportation, and public street lighting poles are being updated with a modern concept. The Jakarta administration is also dismantling monorail pillars in the Jalan Rasuna Said corridor and repairing water channels, public street lighting, parks, and other road equipment. A total budget of approximately Rp102 billion has been allocated by the provincial government for the comprehensive redevelopment of the area.
