Jakarta Flooding Update Monday Evening: 10 Neighbourhoods and 1 Road Still Inundated
Jakarta, Indonesia — The Head of the Data and Information Centre of the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Mohammad Yohan, stated that several neighbourhoods and roads in Jakarta remained waterlogged on Monday evening, 9 March 2026.
The flooding resulted from heavy rainfall that struck Jakarta and surrounding areas from Saturday through Sunday, 7-8 March 2026.
“There are 10 neighbourhoods and 1 road still inundated based on data recorded until 19:00 WIB,” said Yohan in a written statement on Monday.
One flooded neighbourhood reported water depths of 50 centimetres, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Semanan Canal. Another area experienced water depths between 40 and 70 centimetres due to heavy rainfall. A third affected area had water depths of 50 centimetres resulting from heavy rainfall and overflow from the Pelopor Canal.
Meanwhile, the single inundated road was Jalan Kapuk Muara Raya in Kapuk Muara Village, North Jakarta. Water levels on Jalan Lampu Merah Luar Kembangan Raya in South Kembangan Village had receded by the time of reporting.
Regarding evacuations, Yohan noted that residents continued to shelter at nine designated evacuation centres across the city.
“We are deploying personnel to monitor inundation conditions in each area and continuing pumping operations. We are targeting the floodwaters to recede quickly,” Yohan stated.
