Jakarta Flooding Update: 90 Neighbourhood Units and Six Road Sections Inundated

Heavy rain lashed the DKI Jakarta region and its surroundings from the early hours of Friday, 20 February, through to the morning.

The downpour resulted in flooding and waterlogging across numerous areas and roads. At the time of reporting, at approximately 10.00 WIB, the DKI Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded 90 neighbourhood units (RT) and six road sections in Jakarta inundated by floodwaters.

The flooding is spread across seven RT in West Jakarta and 83 RT in South Jakarta, with water depths ranging from 30 to 100 centimetres.

The flooding was caused by high rainfall intensity and the overflowing of the Pesanggrahan, Angke and Krukut rivers. The BPBD DKI had previously announced that the water level at the Krukut Hulu monitoring post was at Alert Level 3, whilst the Angke Hulu post was at Alert Level 2.
