The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) for Jakarta Province recorded that the total value of Jakarta’s exports in April 2026 reached US$1.50 billion, representing a 31.61 per cent increase year-on-year compared to the same period the previous year.

“The improvement in export performance was mainly driven by the export value in the oil and gas and non-oil and gas sectors, which grew by 192.14 per cent and 3ly.29 per cent respectively,” said the Head of BPS Jakarta, Kadarmanto, in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He detailed that this positive movement was primarily driven by the performance of the manufacturing sector. This sector not only provides the largest contribution to Jakarta’s export structure but also served as the main driver of growth in April 2026. Specifically, the export value of the manufacturing sector experienced an annual increase of 33.45 per cent.

“The value increased from US$1,100.84 million in April 2025 to US$1,469.12 million in April 2026, confirming the strength of the manufacturing base in Jakarta,” Kadarmanto stated.

Conversely, Jakarta’s agricultural export value recorded a year-on-year decrease of 33.25 per cent. Based on sector, Jakarta’s export structure remains heavily dependent on the manufacturing industry, which holds a dominant cumulative share of 97.77 per cent. In terms of value, the manufacturing industry grew by 12.27 per cent compared to the January-April 2025 period.

A contrary trend was observed in the agriculture and mining sectors, which experienced declines of 48.34 per cent and 25.00 per cent, respectively. Regarding the performance of leading export commodities from January to April 2026, the precious metals, jewellery, and gemstones group acted as the largest contributor with a market share of 22.90 per cent. This sector showed an increase in export value of 40.00 per cent during the first four months of this year, reaching a value of US$1.38 billion.

This positive trend was supported by the vehicles and parts group, which contributed 16.74 per cent to total exports, with a value increase of 18.26 per cent. “The dynamics of these commodities reflect the response of Jakarta’s trade structure to global demand,” Kadarmanto explained.

Furthermore, based on primary export destinations, Thailand was the main destination for Jakarta’s exports with a total value of US$1.19 billion. Commodities exported to Thailand were dominated by precious metals, jewellery, and gemstones, which recorded a value of US$994.36 million, or a growth of 162.18 per cent.

Following this was the United States, with a total export value of US$684.61 million, where the primary product absorbed was footwear, valued at US$338.80 million. The third major destination for Jakarta’s exports was China, with an export value of US$582.20 million. The most absorbed products in China were fats, as well as animal and vegetable oils, reaching a value of US$182.46 million.
