Jakarta exports fall by almost 20 per cent in August 2026
The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) for DKI Jakarta has reported that Jakarta’s export value in August 2026 stood at $1.18 billion, a 19.88 per cent decrease compared to August 2025.
“This year-on-year decline in export value for August 2026 was primarily driven by a drop in non-oil and gas exports,” stated the Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, during a statistical news release in Jakarta on Thursday.
He noted that non-oil and gas exports in August 2026 amounted to $1,169.89 million, representing a 19.96 per cent decline compared to the same month last year. Meanwhile, the value of oil and gas exports was recorded at $5.29 million, an increase of 2.92 per cent.
The annual decline in exports for August 2026 was driven by a drop in the export of natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones, precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof, imitation jewellery, and coins, which fell by $94.13 million. This was followed by a decline in the export of footwear, protection for the feet, and similar goods, which decreased by $76.31 million compared to August 2025.
The primary export destinations in August 2026 were the United States, with a value of $166.42 million (14.16 per cent), followed by China at $120.39 million (10.24 per cent), and the Philippines at $89.45 million (7.61 per cent).
