Jakarta — The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of DKI Jakarta reported on Monday that Jakarta experienced monthly inflation of 0.63 per cent in February 2026 compared with January 2026, lower than the national rate of 0.68 per cent.

“Last month, after experiencing deflation of 0.23 per cent, Jakarta now experienced inflation of 0.63 per cent,” said Kadarmanto, Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, on Monday.

The commodity contributing the highest inflation in February 2026 was jewellery gold, which experienced inflation of 9.61 per cent and contributed 0.21 per cent to Jakarta’s overall inflation.

Kadarmanto noted that historically, this commodity experienced nine instances of inflation in 2023, 11 instances in 2024, and has continued to experience inflation every month throughout 2025.

“Jewellery gold inflation also continued in January and February 2026, driven by sustained increases in global gold prices,” Kadarmanto explained.

Jewellery gold prices averaged 2,002,206.11 Indonesian rupiah per gram.

Besides jewellery gold, broiler chicken meat also contributed to Jakarta’s monthly inflation in February 2026, contributing 0.13 per cent.

“Broiler chicken meat inflation reached 10.54 per cent, nearly approaching the highest level of broiler chicken meat inflation in the past four years, which was 10.62 per cent in September 2025,” said Kadarmanto.

Other commodities that were main contributors to Jakarta’s inflation in February 2026 included bird’s eye chilli with a contribution of 0.05 per cent, shallots with a contribution of 0.03 per cent, and spinach with a contribution of 0.03 per cent.
