Jakarta – Transport costs are a routine monthly expense for workers. In Jakarta, some private sector employees now have the opportunity to access free public transport services, provided they meet the conditions set by the provincial government.

These provisions are regulated in Governor Regulation (Pergub) Number 33 of 2025 concerning the Provision of Free Mass Public Transport Services. Under this regulation, private sector employees are one of the groups entitled to free transport facilities through the Jakarta Worker Card (KPJ) and Free Service Card (KLG) scheme.

However, not all workers can immediately enjoy this facility. Several administrative requirements must be fulfilled, from possessing a KPJ to applying for the KLG used to access public transport services.

Referring to Article 3 of Pergub Number 33 of 2025, there are 15 community groups entitled to free public transport services in Jakarta. Besides private sector employees holding a KPJ, other beneficiaries include students holding KJP Plus and KJMU, persons with disabilities, the elderly, veterans, residents of public rental housing (rusunawa), members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri), and several other community groups.

For private sector employees, the main requirement is to possess a Jakarta Worker Card (KPJ). The KPJ is intended for workers domiciled and employed in Jakarta within a specific income limit. The criteria for recipients include: possessing a DKI Jakarta identity card (KTP), working for a company or business entity located in Jakarta, and having a maximum income equivalent to the Jakarta Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) plus 15 per cent. For 2025, the maximum income threshold for KPJ recipients is set at Rp6,206,275 per month.

In addition, applicants must prepare several supporting documents: a photocopy of their KTP, a photocopy of their Family Card (KK), a photocopy of their tax identification number (NPWP), a recent payslip, an active employment certificate from the company, and a statement letter according to the prescribed format.

After gathering the complete documents, workers can apply for the KPJ by following these steps: downloading the KPJ application form, filling out the form according to personal and company data, preparing scanned copies of all required documents, and sending the form and supporting documents via email to kartupekerja.dkijakarta@yahoo.com with a carbon copy to hikesja.nakertrans@jakarta.go.id.
