Jakarta Education Office: Data collection for KJP recipients remains a challenge

Jakarta — Nahdiana, head of the Jakarta DKI Education Office (Disdik), acknowledged that the biggest challenge in data collection for Kartu Jakarta Pintar (KJP) recipients is ensuring the recipient data are truly accurate, up-to-date, and properly targeted. ‘The biggest challenge in data collection for KJP recipients in Jakarta is to ensure the recipient data are truly accurate, up-to-date, and properly targeted,’ Nahdiana said in Jakarta on Thursday. She noted that KJP recipient data are currently linked to various social databases to ensure that education assistance reaches learners in need. The recipient data are linked to social databases such as the Data Terpadu Kesejahteraan Sosial (DTKS), Dukcapil population data, vehicle data, and asset ownership data. Nahdiana explained that these data are verified together with schools and the education department. Evaluations are also conducted periodically to ensure that the assistance reaches families in need. The DKI Jakarta Education Office also understands there are still public inputs regarding KJP recipients who are deemed not to be properly targeted. Therefore, every report from the public will be followed up through a re-verification process with schools and cross-agency data matching. ‘If any discrepancies are found, the recipient’s status can be re-evaluated in accordance with the applicable rules,’ she said. She added that the Jakarta Provincial Government continues to evaluate the development of the KJP programme to remain relevant to current educational needs. ‘Including considering the needs for digital learning, rising education costs, and the socio-economic conditions of the community so that the programme’s benefits can be further optimised,’ Nahdiana concluded.
