Jakarta Education Department Partners with Densus 88 and BNPT to Prevent School Brawls and Radicalisation

Jakarta Education Department (Disdik DKI) has partnered with Densus 88 and the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) to prevent school brawls and radicalisation. Jakarta Education Department Chief Nahdiana stated that student brawls must be addressed seriously and involve multiple stakeholders. ‘We have established collaboration with Densus 88. According to Densus 88, we have recently received an award from the National Police Chief for being the province with the fastest detection and prevention measures,’ Nahdiana said during a working meeting with the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives’ Commission E on Monday, 25 May 2026. ‘The initiative involves the regional police, our department, district heads, village heads, and community leaders,’ she added. Nahdiana explained that the forum was formed to strengthen monitoring of student activities, including outside school premises. She stressed that handling school brawls and potential radicalisation cannot be solely the responsibility of schools. ‘We are continuously educating that the education process cannot be confined to schools alone, as children come from home. They cannot be inconsistent—acting one way at school and another at home,’ Nahdiana said. Family and community involvement is crucial in guiding students to ensure they remain under supervision. ‘If orchestrated well, our children will have no vacant spaces or gaps in their supervision,’ she said. According to Nahdiana, the programme is part of efforts to encourage students to be more active and productive outside the classroom. ‘We have opened and activated parks managed by the Jakarta Provincial Government as outdoor classrooms. Parents are now seeing their children in these spaces, such as recently in Ecopark, South Jakarta,’ she added.
