Jakarta East City Government Highlights Importance of Sacrifice Management Training

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta East City Government (Pemkot Jaktim) has highlighted the importance of sacrifice management training in local wards ahead of Idul Adha 2026. “We strongly support and appreciate this activity, as it aims to enhance understanding and skills in animal slaughter methods for sacrifices,” said Jakarta East City Secretary Eka Darmawan in Jakarta on Monday. A total of 150 participants, comprising RT/RW administrators, Ward Deliberation Agencies (LMK), community figures, youth groups, and Mosque Welfare Councils (DKM) in Dukuh Ward, Kramat Jati, Jakarta East, attended the sacrifice management training initiated by the local LMK Forum. During the training, participants received materials on selecting and slaughtering sacrificial animals, along with hands-on practice in slaughtering two goats. The slaughter process was carried out by Jakarta East City Secretary Eka Darmawan and Dukuh Ward Head Riswanto, followed by other participants. Eka hopes that through this training, the community can slaughter sacrificial animals themselves during Idul Adha and not solely rely on professional slaughterers. Meanwhile, RW 04 Chairman in Dukuh Ward, Tri Wulantoro, explained that the training is a routine annual event ahead of Idul Adha. From this training, residents can slaughter sacrificial animals independently during Idul Adha. “This is an annual routine activity with varying participants, ensuring equitable distribution in the community,” said Tri. The socialisation on handling and slaughtering sacrificial animals aims to ensure that the worship is conducted in accordance with Islamic law while meeting health standards. In addition, the Jakarta East Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture Sub-District Office (Sudin KPKP) has begun comprehensive inspections of sacrificial animals to verify their health condition and suitability for sacrifice in line with religious requirements. The inspections cover the physical condition of cattle, from teeth, mouth, ears, hooves and legs, tail, anus, genitals, to other body organs. The health inspections of sacrificial animals commenced on 27 April 2026 and will continue until 26 May 2026. Officials also provide vitamins to animals that are fatigued after long journeys from their origins to restore their condition to optimal. Furthermore, Sudin KPKP Jakarta East has affixed Animal Health Certificate (SKKH) stickers at various sacrificial animal sales locations that have been declared healthy and fit for sale ahead of this year’s Idul Adha.
